' TESTS AT NO. 2 HOKE. MR. BERRY FAILS TO "MAKE GOOD." It will he remembered that, as the outcome of an offer made by Mr. Berry to the shareholders at the special general meeting held oil June 10, an agreement "was ultimately arrived at under which Mr. Berry undertook, under a penalty of £2 per day, to produce 20 barrels of oil daily for 24 working days at No. '2 bore. Mr. .Berry \va<3 given eight weeks in which to "make good" his ofl'er, the Urst month being considered necessary to get everything in readiness. Uhe test proper commenced on r ] lie-day, 14th September, and coneluded on Monday last, 11th October. ttii« result of the test wan submitted to a meeting of the directors last night 1* the surveyors, Messrs Sladdcn and Palmer, and showed that Mr. Berry had unfortunately failed. the total quantity secured being 5124 gallons o! oil, equal to 122 barrels.
Hie lollowing is a copy of the surveyors report:—ln accordance with your 'iistructions we have this morning measured the quantities of oil in tanks anil barrels at your Xo. 2 bore at Moturon, mm we give hereunder the results arrived at: In shed, 40 barrels and 4 fivegallon drums; outside, 14 barrels On September 13th last tlTere were 40 barrels, and we are informed by vour scoretary that since that date there have been sent away 10 barrels and 3 fivc-<»al. lon drums.
