Ilie T. L. Joll Dairy Company received Sjiioib of butter-fat more for September month than for the cornspending month last year. At present the company is making over eight tons of cheese a day. The first shipment of the season's cheese was 1420 cases by the Arawa. The cheese output for the. season should be about 1900 tons—not 1470 tons as published by a contemporary n few days ago. For the month of September the Hawcra Daily Company paid out £2904 lis for butter-fat, being at the rate of lOd per lb. The butter-fat received totalled 71,0041b. The figures show an increase compared with those of the corresponding month in 1008, which were as follow:—Pounds of butter-fat supplied 51,181; at 11 % per lb the amount paid out was £2720 13s Bd. Xormanby Dairy Company paid out to its suppliers in September lOd per lb on 25,9251b of butter-fat; the cheques' totalled £IOBO 3s 7(1. In September of 1008 18,0841b of butter-fat was received and €7OO 18s 7d was paid out on a lOd per lb basis.—Haweva Star. During the.tonr of the Timber Commission it was noticed in different parts of the country that many of the areas used for milling purposes are being overrun with noxious weeds, and the commissioners think that steps should be taken to protect these areas, and ti> ensure that the land is laid down in grass as soon as the milling timber is taken from it.
