What a smart little (illy Kilindini is! At .Marton. Kangitikei. nnd Wanganui lie showed great pace, birt was unlucky, only winning mice. In the Final Handicap at Hastings the daughter of Kileheran tackled open company and was never troubled. winning the six furlong race hindsomely in Imln. 1 ."> 1 -osec. There wa* not a great ileal behind her and the Hastings conr-e is admittedly a fa-t one. hut still there is a tourh of merit in Tut performance. This scribe repeats, she will win many more races this season.
(iolden Loop has been galloping nicely and will prohablv take on Wellington engagements, in which the chestnut appears to be verv well treated. flood acceptances have bee:i received for the (Kaki Maori meeting, which opens on Wednesday. If Cold Crest and Xorth-Kast, meet in the Flying there should he some spirited betting on the event. The Wanganui horse would find heaps of backers in his own town, but it is quite likely that both horses will reserve their best efforts for bigger game. The Canterbury meeting looms ahead!
The hottest of hot things was' Kobinoor in the Hastings Stakes, but it is not a >afe tiling to gamble extensively on four furlong tluitevs, especially when mere baby horses arc concerned. Ormond's Formbv. by Birkenhead—ftladisla, showed a perfect training at the barrier and hopped out quickly. The cerise jacket was in front until a stone's throw from the post, where Kohinoor got his head in front, hut could not sustain the rush, and was beaten by a long head. Winning 3*o*l: was putting in long ones at tho finish, and went one
better when he gathered in the Juvenile Handicap in 49 3-ssec. on the following day. Corazon led a few of the " know-alls" down on Wednesday, and was short of a gallop. On the next day he won the open hurdles after a good race with Forest. The hitter should not he long in winning a race, lie won a double aL Napier Park last spring, and is'coming on wdth every gallop.
