ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
INQUEST. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Ciiristchurch, Last Night. An inquest was held to-dav concerning the death of Josiah M'ilner who was killed by a fall of earth at Andrews' quarry on Tuesday. The district coroner (Mr. T. A. li. Bailey) returned a verdict of accidental death. SERIOUS RAILWAY ACCIDENT. Dunedin, Last Night. John Eagle, aged 20, a cadet at Omakau railway station, met with a serious accident about 10 o'clock last night. As an engine was proceeding to the turntable, he jumped on the footplate, presumably with the object of assisting the men in their work. By some means he slipped, and the rear wheel of the engine and the wheels of the tender passed over one of his legs, almost severing his foot above the ankle. He was taken to the Naseby hospital, arriving titer; about 3 o'clock this morning.
