IMPERIAL SERVICE ORDER.
THE INVESTITURE CEREMONY. By Tclegra| h.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The cei'cmony of handing to the New Zealand recipients of the Imperial Service Order the handsome star and ribbon and the letters patent signed by bis Majesty the King conferring the decoration", took place at the Governor's office this morning. The members of th.' Ministry and a number of departmental heads were present. The recipients wore,: Colonel R. .T. Collins (Secretary to tile Treasury); Mr. Wm. C. Kensington (Un-der-Secretary of Lands); and Mr. .T. K. Logan (Superintendent of Telegraphs!. In carrying out the investiture, his Excellency remarked that the British Empire owed much to the splendid men who carried on the work of the Civil Service, and he could without boasting say that our Civil Service had developed to such a degree that it was our pride and the envy of foreign nations. The Prime' Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) added his congratulations, and the recipients of the Orders suitably acknowledged the remarks.
