The Italian barque Carcciolo, which put. into Auckland some time ago owing to her cargo shifting, was "arrested to-day on a writ issued by the first mate, A. C. BenJield, for wages alleged to be owing. The writ was nailell to the mast, and a bailiff has been put aboard the boat.

j. THE TAINUI'S IMMIGRANTS. ~ Wellington, Last Night, H.v the 'lainui to-day there arrived, amongst others, 400 passengers in the third clasps. Of these 144 are assisted—adults (47 women and 15) men) and 34 children nominated by relatives in New Zealand, and 44 travellers approved by the High Commissioner. The latter we wade np of 20 men, 14 women and 10 children. Included amongst these are 23 domestics, 5 farm laborers, 11 farmers, 1 horse-breaker, li dairyman, 2 ploughmen, and 22 wives and children who arc coming out to rejoin their imsbunda'._ The capital ranges from £2lO to £25. Mr. Danby, Chief Immigration Oltieer, informed a Post representative that the immigrants are up to the average. I THE LICENSING QUESTION. Christchureli, Last Night. A largely attended public meeting was held to-night, when motions were passed urging the granting of dominion option and bare majority in connection with local option polls, and also protesting against the sale of liquor in the King Country.
