'ihe annual report of the North Tar.iuaki Cricket Association, to l» presented at the annual meeting on iconday evening is as follows: "In submitting' th e report and bal-ance-sheet for season IUUB-SI, vour committee feels that a very successful season has ended. A more than ordinary interest was taken in the fixtures bv the public, and the recommeudalioii (if one of the clubs that a small charge be made for admission to the senior lixtures is to be commended, as it will bo a benefit to the clubs concerned, and also to the Recreation Sports (iround. The senior cliampi.onsliip was won by the Inglcwood Club, this being the second occasion it has won the Association's Robertson Cup. The bat presented by Mr. Hardy, Hie Association delegale on the New Zealand Cricket Council, was won by Air. D. Clegg, captain of the InglcMood team. The rimncrs-lip, i the L'renui eleven, are to be congratulated on the effort they made to secure the championship. A noticeable feature m connection with both the Inglcwood and l'renui teams was the unearthing of two promising young bowlers, who ' materially assisted their respective' sides '
in winning their matches. The batting generally was of a fair average, but Hie lidding department of the game was weak throughout. The junior shield was won by Inglcwood, and the club is to lie heartily congratulated on its dual victories. The bat presented by Mr. Waugh for the batting average in juniors was won by Mr. G. Jordan, of the C'nrniigton Road Club. After a lapse of two seasons the Saturday competition was resuscitated, and a .niost successful season marked its revival. The New Plymouth Club's Saturday team was successful in winning the competition, but found doughty opponents amongst some of the. other teams 1 , especially me United Service Club's teams, who are to be congratulated on such a promising start for a young club. The bat presented by Mr. A. S. Hasell for last batting average in the Saturday cricket was won by Mr. O'llyrne, of the Kgmont Village Club. In regard to inter-associa-tion matches, a louring .team visited Wanganui and Hawera, but owing to
several 6f tlif more prominent players ■ being unable to get away the team 'was ratlior weak, and by no means* representative; consequently both matches were lost. In the earlier part of the season a match had been definitely arranged with an Auckland team," and considerable disappointment was felt when it was ascertained at the last moment the team was unable to conic down. The prospects for the ensuing sciwon are encouraging, as considerable interest is being displayed bv the various clubs, and the probability of a visit jof an Australian eleven will tend to create additional interest in the game. The balance-sheet shows a credit balance of £5 4s Bd, which is considered very satisfactory, as' the association has been entirely dependent upon dubs' subscriptions for its support. In concluding tliis report, your committee again desires to thank all those who have rendered assistance to the association, also those who have so generously donated trophies; and to again thank the Taranaki Herald, Taranaki Daily News', and Inglewood Hand Waitara papers for space So liberally devoted to cricket.
