CABLE CARS.
WANT OF PROTECTION TO LIFE AND LIMB. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Duneilin, Last Night. An enquiry into the circumstances surrounding an accident on the Roslyn tram line on September 4th which resulted in,the death of a child named Willielminn TTendry on the 10th best., concluded to-day. The driver and con doctor of the car which ran into the child refused to give evidence when (ailed by tin" police. The jury returned a verdict that death was caused by a shock following the accident and amputation of the leg which was rendered necessary to prevent death from gangrene. The jury expressed the opinion that the evidence adduced did not inable it to say whether or not there was negligence on the part of the officials in charge of the far. The jury added riders to the effect that tlie attention of the proper authorities should be called to the want of protection to life ant. limb in the present cable cars in cases <>f accident, and that no person should lie allowed to stand in the front compartment of any car or on the'outside platform: or, at any rate, forward uf the gripma».
