Dr. Bruce is preparing a Scottish expedition for the South Pole. If £50,000 is forthcoming he will start before 1011. Tlie expedition will eons'ist of 30, including six scientists, and carry an weanographical equipment for 3000 fathoms. A wintering station will lie established on the coasllaml, whence a dash across continent will be made, finally emerging-in Ross Sea. Bruce's theory regarding the mountain ranges suggests' that the easier going liv this route will compensate for the greater distance compared with Captain and Lieutenant Shackleton's expeditions.
