PETROLEUM.

Should nothing unforeseen occur, Mr. Simpson expects to have everything ready for resumption of operations at Xo. 3 bore this afternoon. Yesterday the engine was iixed in position, and the boiler, which is being fitted up at a greater distance than formerly from the bore, was being fixed. The expedition with which the work of renewing the derrick has been carried out has been the subject of much favorable comment by those who closely lollow the trend of operations at Moturoa. Work will probably be commenced with the sand pump, as all the essential portions of the pumping apparatus are not vet to hand.
