There are four priaes, of £2, £1 10s, and 10s, for the bwt-kopt cottage garden in the boron 'b of New Plymouth. The competition >» confined to amateurs, as laid down by clause 13 of the Society's bylaws: "Any non-professional person cultivating his or her own garden, or employing occasional assistance, provided fie or sh'J does not, in the opinion of the romniit--1 tee, make a business of growing for sale products similar to those exhibited in - thy amateur classes. The area must be not more than a.'/i-aere section; entry fee, 2s 6d; entries to close 30th October. 1 .Judges will take into consideration (1) ■ • vegetables, (2) flowers, shrubs, etc., and (3) general arrangements and conditions. The judges will probably visit the gardens twice during November.
