FIRE IN WELLINGTON.

About hall-past 2 o'clock this morning «t fire 'broke out in the upper portion of the four-storey brick building in Victoria street at tho rear of the Open House and facing the Town lLill. A strong southerly was blowing and the flames spread rapidly. Despite the tiue pressure of water, the brigade found working a hose from the ground quite ineffectual.

The plant and stock in the latter tahlKhnient were destroyed, and the stock m the other parts of the buildin" damaged by water. building is insured in H.p Phoenix office for .C.iOOO al ,d in the Norwieh Union for .£2OOO.
