VOLUNTEERING.
. Sergeant-Major Dodd will he in attendance at the Imperial Hotel, New Plymouth, to-night from 7 to 8.30, for the purpose of enrolling members in the new corps, which is called the North Taranaki Mounted Rifles.
A meeting of the •newly-formed Mounted RiHes was held at Waitara last evening for the purpose of enrolling ineiiibers. _ There were aliout 20 present. Mr. W. F. Jenkins (mayor) oecupico th' chair. Sergeant-Major' Dodd addressed the meeting, intimating what would be required in respect to earning capitation, and mentioning that it would be necessary to go into camp for 10 days or 10 daylight parades. Sixteen of those present were then duly sworn in, the tollowing officers being elected:—Captain, -Mr. Haseler; first lieutenant, Mr. W. Joll; second lieutenant, Mr. A. H. Halcombe.—Our correspondent.
