MOA ROAD BOARD.
IThe regular monthly meeting of the above-Board was held on Saturday, [when there were present: Messrs Trimble (chairman), Corkill, Lawrence, Mundt, Smith, Williams and Young. | The Moa Dairy Co. called attentio.i to the bad state of the Ha la piko road | and asked the Board to take steps for its repair.—llr. Young said it was hopeless to expect tl;e Ratapiko road people lo keep that piece of road in repair. The gT' ater part of the traffic came from the Tariki road, which was a great hardship on the Ratapiko rate nave Xo funds.
The foremen's reports were read, and minor works recommended wcr? authorised on the HurstliOuse, Bristol, ling, York, Bedford and Surrey roads.
| Mr. Saunders will be given notice to 1 clear the culvert over the water-tab'e opposite his place. The Board then opened tenders for Bristol road metal as follows:—Xeils:,-n I 6s per yard, W. H. Julian 6s 2d, A. H. Clarke 6s 5(1, E. D. Stewart os 9d (or cepted). On the motion of Mr. Lawrence, seconded by Mr. Williams, it was resolved that a by-law providing a toll on heavy traffic be made.
The resignation of Mr. Ward as road foreman was received and accepted, and it was resolved to call for applications for two foremen to be in by 2nd October prox.
The clerk was instructed to write to the Egmont road Board re subsidy to Kaipi road.
The clerk was also instructed to writ < to Mr.- Stratford for rates on land formerly in the occupation of the New Plymouth Sash and Door Company. Accounts amounting to £l3l 17s were passed for payment and the Board adjourned.—Abridged from Record.
