RIFLE SHOOTING.

Two teams of tha Taranaki Guards visited the country yesterday. The senior team tired against Kaponga Riile Club on the lattff's local range, which is a new one, situate On the Palmer road, about eight miles from Elthiun. This being the opening match fired 'Jii it, a few remarks will not be out of place. The range extends to 1000 yards, direction firing southerly. Three sets of sash targets are in use, and the visitors were well pleased with the capabilities of all appointments and particularly gratified with arrangements made" for their entertainment dur'ng their stay. The wind was considerably tricky. The visitors won by 40 points, On the following scores, after a very interesting match:

The Guards B team tried conclusions with Eltham Rilles at Elthani, the latter winning by 57 points. Three targets were in use, and the visitors were well entertained by the local corps, and spent a very enjoyable outing. Following are the scores:—
