The Select Committee on the Imprisonment for Debt question reports against complete abolition, as a threat of imprisonment is' the only argument with a certain class of debtors. It proposes a reduction of- the Statute of Limitations to three years instead of six, and recommends that imprisonment should not be permitted in usury and betting cases.
