A PEA RIFLE FATALITY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Fridav. The twin brothers Sutherland, aged 12, were out shooting hawks with a pea rifle at Admiral Run, when the gun accidentally discharged and one of the boys was shot in the groin. The unfortunate lad died in the evening. A CHILD'S DEATH. Dunedin, Last Night. A child named Wilholmina Hendry, aged one year and 10 months, who was injured on the Roslyn tramline last Saturday, died to-night. The child ran in .front of a car, and although the driver pulled up quickly, one of the wheels passed over her foot and her toes had to be amputated.

AX OLD IXGLEWOOD SETTLER DROWNED. News was received .in Inglewood yesterday that Mr. Elijah Lcary, of Kent road, had been found drowned in a crack near his house, says the Record. It appears that the family left home Thursday evenhg about eleven o'clock, leaving Mr. Lcary ail well. On returning at six they found that Mr. Leary was not at home, and as he did not return the family and neighbors instituted a thorough search which resulted in finding the body in a creek on the farm life being extinct. It was surmised that lie was crossing a stream on a log which was used as a bridge, and that he lost his foothold.
