CAUGHT RED-HANDED.
SENSATIONAL EXPERIENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The guests in Warner's Hotel had lather a startling experience this morning. At an early hour an enterprising burglar, who ascended by means of a fire escape, visited several rooms and ievieu"*toll on the valuables of sleepers, In one, however, the intended victim was awakened by the entrance of the burglar and tackled him. A rougli-and-tunibie ensued, the guest calling lustily for help. The nigHt porter, the manager of the hotel, and some others were quickly on the spot and the police were telephoned for. On their speedy arrival the burglar was handed over and subsequently, on pleading guilty to-day, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. He had made a fairly good collection from the rooms visited by him.
