He was a strnngcr to the district. ll* was crossing Gold Creek at the head of the railway works to get a cow and a horse, and stumbled and fell, and was washed down the creek; The body has not been recovered. Mr. McKenzie. owner of a butcher's shop at the Otoko railway works, was drowned this afternoon. The driver of" the cart refused to cross the stream opposite the slaughterhouse, and McKenzie said he would drive himself. lie attempied tp do so. and the horse, cart nnd driver were swept away, and have not been seen.
