SUPPOSED SUICIDE.
News of a very distressing fatality Was flashed through the town last evening, a well-known resident, Mr. John D. George, having been discovered by his daughter, shortly before five o'clock, tying dead in a room at his house '.n Vivian Street. A pea-rifle was on the floor beside the body, which had a bullet wound in the head; From the particulars it appears that the members' of the family who resided with deceased left home in the morning, and Mr. George was left alone in the house all day. Of late he had not been in the best of health, and ever since the death of his wife and son about two years ago he has been in pool: spirits and subject) to fits of melancholy, and it is supposed that while suffering from one of these fits, and during a period of' 'temporary insanity, be committed the fash act. Deceased was a very old resident here, widely known and connected, and genuine, sympathy will be felt by a very wide circle of friends for the bereaved friends and relatives. Deceased was abput 05 years of age. An inquest will be held to-day.
