LACK OF DISCIPLINE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. I Auckland, Monday. At the Police Commission this morning, Mr. Kettle, S.M., senior Stipendiary Magistrate expressed the opinion that the discipline of the police force was . ot as good as it should be. He referred more .particularly to some of tlic younger men appointed during the last two years. He thought there should b.' proper military discipline in the force. He had seen officers this morning lolling outside the court and smoking while ia uniform. He thought men should have at least three months' training in barracks and go before a board of enquiry before they were sent out. He spoke highly of the various officers in 'the Auckland 1 force and thought, other things being equal, preference should be given to senior men where vacancies «•
