DAIRY FACTORY REPORTS.

HUIAKAMA. Tbc following report will be laid before the annual meeting bf the shareholders in the Huiakama Dairy Factory, to be held on September 2:—"The shareholders are to be congratulated on a 'successful season, the price paid for but-ter-fat being the highest the factory lias yet paid. The quality of the butter also was well maintained, the factory taking the lirst place in the grading averages at New Plymouth. We have lost a good manager in Mr. M, \Y. Porter, whose departure was a source of regret to everyone. Mr. J. T. Howe, who takes his place, comes with excellent credentials. Messrs. Dromgool and O'Neill are the retiring directors, and a successor must also be found for Mr. Nelson, who has resigned. Mr. J. H. Thompson, who was appointed auditor on the retirement of Mr. Linrdet, oilers his services for the ensuing year." During the year 2,007,3951b of milk of an average tes't of 3.81 produced 70,5501b of butter-fat, from which 80,1921b of butter were made.

CARDIFF. The following report will be presented to shareholders of the Cardiff Cooperative Dairy Company at the annual meeting this (Monday) evening:—" The milk supply exceeded that of the previous best, 100U-7, by 560,000 lb, and the cheese has graded the highest at the New Plymouth grading station. Xne price obtained in London was a.07 on ..ie weight sold, slightly better than ruac year. The butter was sold in New Zealand at Is per lb. You will notice a considerable increase of our holding of shares in the Box Company. Increase of capital was necessary to enable the company to acquire timber rights so as to ensure future supplies. It has been deemed advisable to re-establish a fund for replacement of buildings and plant, and £ll2 has been transferred thereto troui working account. Messrs. McFadyen, Keppel and Styles ajc the retiring directors, and Messrs. Henderson ana McGechie's seats have become vacant owing to the transfer of their, shares. It will be necessary to till their places. Mr. P. F. Ralfe's 1 services as auditor are available for the ensuing year." During the butter-juaking period (August 25 to September 30) 472,510 lb of milk of an average test of 3.78 provided 17,869 lb ol butter-fat, from which 19,578 lb of butter was made. During the cheese-making period (October 1 to May 3Uj i,603,541 lb of milk, of an average vest of 3.79, were dealt with, and produced 728,130 lb of cheese.

MAKAHU. At the aunual meeting of shareholders in the Makahu Co-operative Dairy Co., to be held on the 3rd September, the following report will be submitted by the directors:—"The balance-sheet for the past season is before you, and calls for little comment. Our trouble is still the small supply of milk. Fortunately the prospect lor the coming season is in tuat respect a better one. ' The bailding aria plant have been left in good order by our late manager, Mr. liilpatrick, whose departure will be regretted by all. His successor, Mr. T. 11. Kobertson, comes with high testimonials, both for making high-class butter and for economy. The retiring directors are Messrs. Ford and O'Conuur. Mr. J. H. Thompson offers his services again as auditor." During the past season 801,049 lb of milk, of an average test uf 3.08, provided 35,549 lb of butter-fat, from which 40.290 lb of butter were made.

| OPOXAKE. The report of the. directors of the Opunake Dairy Company presented to shareholders at the annual meeting on Thursday showed that during the past season ll,0B0,30!)lb of milk was receive!, and from this 478,4801b of butter was manufactured, giving the result of 1-b of butter to 23.111b of milk. The aver- ' age test was 3.82, and the overrun 13.2. Payments for buttcv-fat, together with the sum of ±'o4l to be paid out, represent a total of 10.02 d per lb for t-hs whole year. The balance-sheet showed that '£20,740 hud been received for butter sales, anil there was £395 by way of credit balance, sale of buttermilk, and butter on hand. The chief items of expenditure were: Milk advances £17,014, .boxes £422, export charges £478, salaries £BB2, stores 'J39B. It was resolved that 5 per cent. He paid ou subscribed capital and 7VI per cent, written off for depreciation. The directors appointed were: Kina road creamery. Mr. M. Callender; Ihaia road cieamer'vj Mr. C. Sorensen; Central, Mr. J. M. Hickey. Others elected were Messrs. W. A. <Juy, E. C. .Uiddleton, and J. C. Hickey. Mr. G. W. Rogers was reelected auditor. An honorarium of 10 guineas was voted to the chairman, and a sum of 15 guineas to Mr. R. O'Dea, manager, as a wedding present. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr. J. M. Hickey was re-elected chairman.

| • JOLL'S The first annual meeting of the T. L. Joll Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., was held at Kapuni on Wednesday. After congratulating shareholders oa ♦he success of the year's operations, the report presented by the directors stated that alter writing off the sum of £2038 14s lUd ior all-round depreciation, there remains a credit balance of £4417 #os lid to be dealt with. From this the 'directors proposed to make further payincuts on butter-fat supplied by shareholders, absorbing £4297 9s lOd,. and also pay interest at the rate of ti per cent, per annum on paid-up capital, which would absorb a further sum of £72 lfis 4d, leaving a balance of £47 4s 9d to be carried forward to the credit of next year's account. The total amount of milk received during the ,eason was 46,694,5861b, which yielded 1,797,1851b of butter-fat; 6,649,2351b of milk, yielding 251,4981b of butter-fat, was used in butter-making, which produced 284,3301b of butter; 40,045,351 ib of milk, yielding 1,545,0871b of butterSat, was used in cheese-making, from which 3,791,6011b of cheese was made. The chairman (Mr. J. 15. Murdoch) re ; ferred to the success so far of the enterprise, and the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The retiring directors, Messrs. Murdoch, T. Walsh, and J. S. 1 earce, were re-elected, Messrs. E. Betts, A. Peters, and T. White being defeated. Mr. W. O'Callaghan was re-elected auditor.
