THE OTIRA DISPUTE. _ By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, last Night The position at Otira was unchanged today. The men are receiving their first "strike" pay, which is being paid as from the 18th inst., the day on widen worked ceased. The time of the conference with Mr. Murdoch McLean It not yet definitely fixed, but will probably be on Sunday afternoon. The men are very hopeful that an offer to return to work on the old conditions, pending a settlement of the dispute, will be accepted. The township is quiet and the good ] conduct of the men continues. Mr. P. ' Hnlly, Conciliation Commissioner, considers the prospects of a settlement very favorable.
