LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. 1 By Telegra] h.—Press ABStciation. Palmerston N., Last Night. championship. Miss Snodgrass (Westport) defeated Mrs. Bevan (New Zealand champion) on the nineteenth green. Mrs. Bevan was ordered by the doctor not to play, but she did so and was continually short on the greens, which were wet from the rain, but the golf was nevertheless excellent, Miss Snodgrass going up to 40, only one over par, and finishing in 92 to Mrs. Bevnn's 93. Miss Gould, 70— 6—64, won the :4iiole stroke handicap. Mre. Guy Williams, in playing off for the bogey handicap, equalled Mrs. Bevans' new links' record of 84. Miss Rattray, 150 yards, won the driving competition, Miss Mill, 151% yards, being second. MISS SNODGRASS' RECORDS. Westport, Last Night. Miss Snodgrass who has just won the ladies' open golfing championship of Manawatu, beating in the final Mrs. Bevan, the open champion of New Zealand, has had rather a remarkable record athletically. having been Indv champion of the Westport Golf Club since its inception four years ago twice, including the present year; West Coast golfing champion, lady champion of two Westport croquet club 6, also of the West Coast, and lady in the West Coast combined tennis championship. Her present performance is all the more creditable because this season she has had comparatively little practice on the ' links.
