The Royal Commission appointed to inquire into the' naiiagciuciit of the l'urkside Lunatic Asylum found that some criminal lunatics had been allowed extraordinary privileges, such as bavin;.' whole days away from the asylum and I attendance at theatres. One inmate who was sentenced to twenty years'' l'mpri- j Koiliiie.'il for highway robbery, and who j became a patient, had as many as j twenty drinks while out with an attendant. The commission recommends I a more strict control and a more rigid | system of inspection.
