Mr. Wilfonl, for accuse!, , asked for probation. Kruse was implied, with nine children. His Honor said lie regretted lie could not comply. There lmd been too many cases of the kind, and -warnings from the Uencli had not proved effective. Prisoner must be imprisoned for six months. A verdict of guilty was returned in the case against Sebastian Newson, charged with sending the scow Eona on a voyage to I'alliser Bay in an unseawort'hy condition. His Honor said if he did not think accused had acted more through ignorance than through wilful neglect he would have inflicted a term of imprisonment. Prisoner was fined £3O and ordered to pay £lO costs. John Philpot Wilson, who was conacted with W. J. Noman in a case "f theft, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. The ease in which Arthur Frederick Wimsctt i« charged witli complicity in extensive robberies bv James Hemingway from the parcels branch of the Wellington Post Office, was not concluded when the Court rose. TEX YEARS AND A FLOGGING. Auckland, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, James ' Campbell, who was convicted yesterday i of committing rape on two women, was ' sentenced to ten years' imprisonment, ' and t'wo floggings each of ten lashes.
