HEXLEY REGATTA. Writes a London correspondent:— Rough weather .somewhat spoilt this year's Henley Regatta., The features were the showing of ' ' 'i Lucas, of Germany, in the Dia:n.anil of the Royal Club, J)e Gand, of Belgium, in tile Grand. The Belgians were more hnrdly pushed to defeat Mai'daL'ti College in ilie semi-final of the Grand, and their final success over Jesus College (the con- ■ querors of Leander) was anticipated. Thus once again the English style of. rowing lias been shown to lie inferior to the more modern methods of Americans and Belgians, for it is not due to uny inferiority of the u mnn behind tip gun," or. rather, oar. Old England came up smiling for the Diamonds, and Stuart's victory atoned in a slight degree for the reverse in the Grand.
