By Telegraph.—Press Association, Dunedin, Monday. The case Gorlitz v. Kubelik, in which £3OOO damages was claimed for breach of agreement to appoint plaintiff ager for defendant during the latter's Australasian tour, was called on in the Supreme Court this morning. The case was ordered to stand over with a view to a private settlement. Auckland, Monday. Frederick Wilckens, of Owhati, was to-day sentenced to three years' imprisonment for arson, having pleaded guilty in the lower court. He stated that he committed the crimes to endeavour to shelter another man, who was acquitted on a charge of arson last .week.

Palmerston North, Monday. The Supreme Court sittings were opened before Mr. Justice Cooper this morning. Five criminal cases were on the calendar and a true bill was returned in each case. Robert Henderson was emerged with breaking and entering and theft, George Edwards, alias Lloyd Evans, with forgery, Hcdley Nye, with murder, and Ernest O'Niell with -false ; prejtences. In the Supreme Court to-day, Magnus badger was fined £25 on a charge of Bt \Baulfc and causing bodily harm. Jas. ■Ar.Uwr, convicted last week on a cliarge of cxnupiring to defraud by means of tbe "'tfaee-card trick," was sentenced to twelve BMHtths imprisonment. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day a young man nam?d John Tanerecd, was charged with breaking into the premises of *ouis Trumann, tobacconist, at Petone, with intent to commit a crime. After over four horns' retirement the jury reported they could not agree, and Mr. Justice Chapman thereupon ordered a new trial.
