Glorious golfing weather prevailed for the second round of the ladies' championship, which was played to-day. Results:— Mrs. Hannay beat Miss Gorrie. Miss Symes beat Miss Fulton. Miss Christie won by default from Miss Mendelson.

Miss Cowper beat Miss Martin. Miss Braithwaite beat Mrs. Mellsop. Miss Brandon beat Miss Standish. Miss Stephenson beat Miss Mill.' Miss Bcason beat Miss Gorrie. Miss Wilson beat Mrs. Mcßae. Miss Wood beat Miss Snodgrass. Mrs. Bevan beat Mrs. Freeth. Miss Hamlin beat Mrs'. Acheson. Mrs. Williams beat Miss Campbell. Miss Humphreys beat Mrs. Siiarp. Mrs. Turnbull beat Miss Tansley. THIRD ROUND. Palmerston-N., Saturday. In the third round of the ladies' golf championship Miss Hanuey beat Miss Symes, 1 up; Miss Cowper (Wanganui) beat Miss Christie (the present champion), 4 up and 2 to play; Miss L. Brandon beat Miss Brathwaite, 3 up and 3 to play; Miss Stephenson beat Miss Beatson, 7 up and 0 to play; Miss Wood beat Miss Wilson, 2 up; Mrs. Beavan beat Miss Hamlin, 1 up; Miss A. Humphreys beat Mrs. Guy Williams, 3 up and 1 to play; Miss Gounld beat Mrs. Turnbull, 4 up and 2 to play. Miss Gould beat Miss Gray. Palmerston N., Saturday Night. The ladies' golf championship meeting was continued to-day in fine weather. There were two surprises during the afternoon. Miss A. Humphries beat Mrs. Guy Williams, and Miss Cowper beat Miss Christie (last year's champion). Playing in the bogey match in the afternoon, Mrs. Williams repeated her feat of the previous day,' by doing the j round in eighty-nine. The bogey match resulted: Miss Brewster (New Plymouth), handicap 18, 2 up; Miss S. Gorrie, handicap 10, square; Mrs. Guy Williams, handicap 5, 2 down.

MISS STEPHENSON'S CHANCES FAVORED. Palmerston N., Last Night. There have been only slight showers to-day, following the showers of last night, so if the rain continues to nold off the links should be in good order for the semi-finals of the championships. Jliss A. Humphreys' brilliant play is the subject of general talk after her defeat of Mrs. Guy Williams, who showed that she was not off her game by again equalling nine links and her record of 83 in the afternoon.

Miss Rattray, on behalf of the South Island, and Miss Duncan, captain ol the Wellington Club, on behalf of the North, have selected two teams of eight to represent the respective islands in the teams match. Scores are to be gro»s scores in the Donnelly Cup and Coronation Medal, to be played to-morrow, and the first six- scores on each side are to be taken. The teams arc:—North: Misses Stephenson, Hannay, Brandon, Hamlin and Cowper, Mesdamcs G. Williams, Bevan, pnd Bidwe.il. South: Misses Rattray, Gould, Campbell, Wilson, Mill, Christie, Wood, Snodgrass. The draw for the championship is Miss Hannay v. Miss Cowper, Miss Stephenson v. Miss Brandon, Miss Humphreys v. Miss Bevan, Miss Wood v. Miss Gouid. The chances of Miss Stephenson arc most favored.

NGAMOTU CLUB. The third round for the championship was completed on Saturday, with tilie following results:—A. Bewlcy beat K. Addenbrookc 1 up; W. C. Weston beat A. H. Steeds 4 up and 2 to play; J. Paton beat H. H. Ward 4 up and 3 to play; L. Hansen beat P. D. McCord 4 up and 2 to play. In the semi-final for the junior competition J. A. Haslam beat F. G. Kimbell 1 up, and C. A. Benbow beat J. Johnston 3 up and 2 to play.

The final rounds for both the championship and tlie junior competition have been reduced to 18 holes only, instead of 30, on account of the bad weather having delayed the matches. The draw for the semi-final of the championship, to be played on or before August 28th, is as follows':—A. Bcwlcy plays L. Hansen, W. C. Weston plays J. Puton. The final for the junior competition, between J. A. Haslam and C. A. Beabow, is to be completed also by 28th August.
