CANTERBURY v. AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Christchurch, Last Night. The representative hockey match between Auckland and Canterbury was played at Lancaster Park this afternoon before about 1500 people. Canterbury won tlie toss and defended the southern goal. From the bully-off Canterbury forwards broke away, but Sheriff returned, The reds (Canterbury) kept up the attack, aspl after some give-and-tano play, Campbell hit well !ip the fie'.d. Snell hit into the circle and hit the post, from which Green, following up fast, scored. Canterbury 1, Auckland 0. Auckland, from the bully, had Canterbury backs busy, and after 60nie good play Mather found the net. Starting again, Auckland kept up the attack, 'out after good play by Campbell, Hulbert pass'ed to Green, who again scored. Canterijury 2, Auckland 1. When halftime was called there was no alteration in the score. Both sides played up in the second spell, but Canterbury got another goal,, scored by Ilarragtoiij and the match resulted: Canterbury 3. Auckland 1.
LADIES' TOURNAMENT. Napier, Last Night. The' New Zealand ladies' annual championship hockey tournament will commence at Cornwall Park, Hastings, tomorrow afternoon. Ten teams are taking part. Ncls'oii, Auckland, and two Wairarapa teams arrived On Wednesday, and Wellington, Wanganui, Tatanaki and llorowlienua teams this evening. MawUe's Bay has nominated two teams. The tournament will extend over nine davs. nail some of the games will be played in Xapier. Tlic weather has been line for some day?.
