PETROLEUM.
OPERATIONS AT MOTUROA. Jf; CONTINUED SUCCESS AT No. 3. The indications of a big oil yield at . No. 3 bore of the Taraniki Petroleum Co. at a very early date continue to j improve. A succession of blows-up occurred yesterday, considerable quantities of oil being ejected after each withdrawal of the gripper which is being employed to get hold of the rope wiuch went down the well early in the week. The great pressure of gas shows not the slightest sign of easing off. The cause of the present temporary stoppage should be removed to-day, and very interesting developments may be expected at any moment It is already apparent that the oil is steadily rising m the bore. At No. 2 Mr. Berry is making rapid progress, and with mostt promising prospects. The oil Has now risen within a comparatively short distance of the top . ! of the .bore, and when the pump is set going there is warrant for anticipating en increased yield being obtained.
