An official correction shows that Australia on the fir6t day scond 215, not 213, and that Hopkins* score was 56; also that Dennett took four wickets for 95-not 93. Barnett was caught at short-100- after batting 145 minutes.
Townsend gave a fine display of hard driving and cutting, and knocked up 50 in 50 minutes. His innings, which lasted two hours, was marred by chance* l — both off Whitty. He hit twentv-one tourers.—Three for 233.

The two Roberts carried the total to 380, when Ransford took another square-leg cateh, dis-posing of F. Roberts. The .retiring batsman played a free, all-round game, and hit ei"ht tourers. n Roberts was taken cleverly in the i slips.—Eight for 407. 'Ralin started at this stage, ani stumps were drawn for the day. Five thousand were present.
