At the Police Court to-day an elderly womun named Ellen Canall, who keeps a lodging house in Grey street, was' fined £SO for sly-grog soiling. Richard I'radavitch, who keeps a lodging-house is Hobson street, was sentenced to a months' imprisonment for the same. offence. ' VoRTONE-TELLTNG.
Auckland, Last Night, The hearing of fortune-telling cases was resumed at the Police Court this morning. Mr. Cutten, S.M., giving considered ruling on a point previously raised, said there could be no doubt that any person getting his fortune told was party to the offence, and uncorroborated evidence of an accomplice was insufficient to convict. In the present cases the police constable was the only fwreoa present at each interview.
