Says the 'Wellington Times:—"The dirty dairyman is a public nuisance and ought tu bo treated like one where the consequences of liis lilthiness impipge upon, the safety ot the community ' Tuberculosis is steadily gaining ground —and this is the record of an industry from which a great outcry is periodically raised about being 'harassed'! A butcher who sold diseased meat h a city would be heavily lined, but so much are certain dairymen harassed that they can year in and year out sell milk drawn from infected cows to factories for the. manufacture of butter and chee e The reason tiiis is allowed we do not know. Is it because the circumstance is so beautifully symmetrical?" Tt is estimated that about 10,000 tons more butter will be exported from Siberia to Itritisli markets this year than last year.
The Pihama Co-operative Dairy Company (Taranaki) paid out 10y s d "for the past season'a butter-fat, with a bonus of 4 per cent. A dividend of 5 per cent, has been declared, and 6 per cent, allowed for depreciation.
