AGAINST UNEMPLOYMENT, SICKNESS AND DEATH. BRITISH GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSALS. '

Mr. Winston Churchill (President of the Board of Trade), speaking at Branksomc Park, stated that before l'arliamcnt ends, and uniess it is violently liroken by a foul blow, au extensive measure of insurance against unemployment will be passed, based on the principle that workmen will be able to make some little weekly sacrifice, to be joined by employers' contribution and a State subvention. The Board of Trade, he said, was now elaborating the scheme. He added that Mr. Lloyd-George will introduce next year a scheme of working through friendly societies to enable householders to insure against sickness, invalidity and the death of the breadwinner.
