, SHOP-LIFTING. , ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. j • Christcliurch, Last Night. The shop-lifting case was mentioned again to day, when Win. Stow<» and Florence Kiunia Stowc came up for sentence on a charge of stealing goods to the value of £2 as. The Sub-Inspector stated that the man had been convicted ia Auckland and had been suspected of shop-lifting. Accused were sent to gaol lor a month.
AN OPIUM-SMOKER. Christchureh, Last Night. The case against All Chong, which was adjourned from yesterday in order that aa analysis might be made of the contents of the opium pipe which accused was smoking, was again before the Court. Mr. A. A. Biekerton, Government Analyst, who had made the examination, said the substance was opium. Through the medium of a» interpreter, accused pleaded that he had not actually smoked opium when the police arrived on the scene. A fine of £1 and costs was inflicted. i
