HOKITIKA HARBOR IMPROVEMENT.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hokitika, Last Night. A meeting of the Harbor Board was held to-night to consider « report by Mi. A. D. liell, C.E., ujioii the harbor improvement scheme. . The report was very favorably received, but owing to Its voluminous nature the Board resolved to adjourn till the sth August for final consideration. The cost of the proposed scheme as recommended will be about £35,000.

SHORT-LIVED LIBERTY. . . Wellington, Tuesday. A prisoned named John Thomas Driseoll, whilst serving „ sentence of six months imprisonment, escaped from a ("son gang at Mnhangu Bay, but was arrested tin hour later at Woiser Bay.
