MILITARY TRAINING
MOKE ENCOURAGEMENT FOR CADETS.

The Government has decided to make some changes in the training and administration of the public school caa'l force. The moey hitherto spent on ra 1 and coach fares for cadets to travel to parades, competitions, etc., is in future to he spent in bonuses to 'members oi the permanent force and district stall's, in consideration of their giving instruction where possible, the former in i >e cities and the latter in the country districts. The construction of miniatu 'C rille ranges is to be encouraged, and boards, school committees, and other bodies will be subsidised .£ for £ up to an amount to be determined in each approved case for these ranges. A special .22 miniature rille will be provided, and special competitions arranged. This will enable district high schools and other senior cadet corps to (have| a greater proportion of .310 rifles issued to them than they now have.
