Persons having claims against the firm of Davies and Co., sawmillers, Carrington Road, are requested to render details to Mr. C. T. Mills, not later than olst inst. The fascination opium seems to have over these poor creatures is reinarkab!?, and very few of us can realise the fearful craving they have for the drug. The victims of this vice are said to live in a semi-conscious state and a great mauy of them eventually become imbeciles I Fortunately, however, there are a great j many Chinamen in New Zealand who do j not indulge in the habit and these are credited with being very smart and clever entertainers, a fact which will be demonstrated by the Chinese biouk at the West End school entertainment to be held in the Theatre Royal on Wednesday, 28th inst.
