ASSISTED IMMIGRANTS
GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE WITHDRAWN.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Lust Night. The Government has decided to stop all assisted immigration for the present. "Those whom we have contracted to bring out will be'assistcd in accordance with the Government's undertaking," said the Acting-iPreraier to-day, "and persons nominated before the decision was made will not lie interfered with, but during the winter months we will not assist any more immigrants, for that is a bad time to arrive, not only "■ei:vi«" of the climatic conditions, but »;.•■! because of the lack of employjutut."
