A PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The new briquette-making process brought under Sir Joseph Ward's notice by the inventor at i'remantle is to undergo a practical test in New Zealand, for, acting upon the Prime Minister's advice, the originator is now on his way to the Dominion. He has written to the Minister of Mines stating he is prepared to give a demonstration of the process with slack from the State mines, and to negotiate for the sale of the working rights, cither for the State mines alone or for the whole of New Zealand. The process is one ny which, it is claimed, briquettes can be made without heating the slack or using pitch, which is now the binding agency. "If the process is really successful it will he an important improvement," i commented Mr. McKenzie, "for we spend £4OOO or £SOOO annually on pitch for I briquette-making under the present system."
