The sculjing match for the championship of Australia, for stakes of £2OO, took place on the Paramatta liver today between Pearce and Mitchell. Pcarce won by five lengths. Mitchell got- slightly the best of the start. Pearce quickly overhauled him and went to the front. Holding hi? opponent easily, he led throughout, and won by four lengths. Mitchell made a game but unavailing effort towards the dose and finished badly pumped. Time, •23min 43sec.
