Before bit death, he wished to receive all tie rites of tie Church, and expressed contrition for bit Am, but did not wish to receive sacraments at a cost of the retraction of what he had said and written in all sincerity and still considered to be the truth. He received conditional absolution and subsequently extreme unction,, but was unable to take communion in the. absence of power to swallow.
