CORRESPONDENCE.
THE IIOBY FAMILY. 'i'o the Editor. Sir, In your issue of July 5, under tlie blinding of "Tlie late .Vis, Hoby," you publish some startling revelations which 1, as a. member of tlie family alluded to, should like to contradict. The gross inuendo regarding Queen Elizabeth has, 1 am glad to see, been resented l>y ooiue correspomlenis, and is, 1 believe, without a particle of foundation,
L certainly have never before heard tlie faintest allusion to the scandal. Elizabeth during her minority was for three years under the guardianship of Sir J.liomas Holjv a,t liisham, and after- • wards when the Queen re-visited ths place as a guest. As for the assertion that Mr. -George Holby, of Bell Block, is the next heir to the estate of Bisham, ft is absolutely incorrect. The .place :s owned by Kir Henry Vansittart NeaJe, and has been out of the Hoiby family for about one hundred ami thirty years; and, ia any case, the Xew Ply- - mouth IJo'bvs arc not descended from the Bisham family, but both came from the same stock .in Radnor, South Wales. J For the sake of those of your readers who do not know where Bisham is, I it may add it is' on the Thames, near Jlar- S low, iii Berkshire, There are other in- R accuracies in the article, but I forbear. J? Thanking vou in anticipation, I ain, B etc., ARTHUR HOBY. tl 123 Willis Wellington. m ■ <lt
