In furtherance of the general scheme of retrenchment outlined 'by Sir Joseph Ward sewne time ago, Cabinet lias decided upon radical chants in connection with the Stamp Department. All accounts relating to deceased persons must lie forwarded to Wellington from the different parts of tiie Dominion. There is to be 110 oliiee for receipt of such stamps, except in Wellington. Assessment stamp duty on deeds and other instruments will be made by district land registrars, instead of, as at present, 'by the deputy commissioners of HUiinps. The actual stamping of documents is to lie done by the post in the different centres, where deed* duty will he assessed ly district land registrars.
