KING COUNTRY LICENSES.

PROTEST BX THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. I By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, La6t Night. The Temperance Committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand passed a resolution to-night strongly protesting against wholesale licenses being granted in the King Country. "We characterise the action," the resolution says, "as a breach of the treaty with Hie native race, the more to be condemned since the Stipendiary Magistrate used his deliberative vote to make the tie and his casting vote to carry the decision. As a Christian Church we protest against the demoralisation of the native race through strong drink thus introduced and call upon the Government to take such action as will speedily bring an end to these wholesale , licenses."
