He claimed justification for his crime on the ground of patriotism. He made n rambling and vehement attack on British rule in India, which, he said, was causing oppression and atrocities. His remarks implied the claim of "India for Indians." He expressed a wish thai sentence of death lie passed upon him. Then his compatriots' vengeance would he all the keener. He concluded by appealing to sympathisers in America an,: Germany.
