"NO SCANDAL ABOUT QUEEN ELIZABETH, I HOPE?"-CRITIC.
To the Editor. Sir,—Tho writer of the obituary notice of the late Misa Hohy must surely he very foggy in English history when lie or she states that "it is a pers'iste'.it belief in the Hoby family that they are the lineal descendants of Queen Elizabeth." Unfortunately for this supposition, the good Queen Bess never married, and is always known in history as the virgin Queen of England. To claim lineal descent from a Sovereign under these circumstances' savors of snobbery, ami is a grave scandal on the chastity of the illustrious dead.—l am, etc., ALBERT SMITH.
