THE PROPOSED TAXATION, A CONFERENCE'S PROTEST. Received July 7, 18.35 p.m. London July T. Estate agents in London, mining engineers, and solicitors representing the bulk of the Yorkshire and Midlands coalfields, meeting in conference at Sheffield, resolved that the penalties on land and minerals in the clauses of; the Budget were excessive. The conference declared the Bill despotic by not allowing unrestricted right of appeal or veto.
