SHOOTING.
A BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE, The Taraniiki Rilles fired a section competition on the local range on Thursday afternoon;' ranges 200, 500, and 000 yards, seven shots and two optional sighters at each range, five men from each of the four sections. The conditions were favorable for jrood shooting, although it was bitterly cold with a failing light jit the long "rang* The competition resulted in an easy win for No. 3 section. The feature of the competition was the splendid score made by Sergt. Marrett; this brilliant and popular shot put on 1.03 out of a possible 105, making the possible at 500 yards and one point short of the possible at each of the other distances. The following are the scores of the winning section:—
